The Genre of British Indie

Indie rock is claimed to be under the the genre title of Alterntaive rock. This genre being such a widespread one, sadly does not exactly give a clear indication as to what Indie rock actually is.

Indie rock origintaes from the United Kingdom and the United States during the 1980's. While the name suggests that the genre orignally was created to describe the indepedant labels they were representing, but over the years the genre as developed into a music taste of its own due to the same style repeatedly seen through out the genre.

British Indie bands that are relevant to the music style we are attempting to duplicate are:
.Franz Ferdinand
.Bloc Party
.Placebo
.Kaier Chiefs
. Artic Monkey's

Other notiable bands from other countries are:
. The Killers
. Kings of Leon
. The Hives
.The White Stripes

Looking at the image of Indie bands, I feel I may have to show an example of the Hives, since their outfits are iconic and a continuous part of their style.

Whilst they aren't neccesarily the theme we would be going for, The Hives are very good example of sticking to their genre, as throughout their music career, they have strictly stayed with the theme of black and white and this gives them the ability to be recognised for their image as much as their music. If Rabbit in the Headlights were able to achieve this sort stylised system, then they could develop their image as another selling point for the band and not just the music.

Aiming for a style similar to Rabbit In The Headlights, it would seem that the Kasier Chiefs have a similar if limited style, as it ranges from casual to formal, but mostly consist of waistcoats, scarves and and sometimes long coats.
